My education features a thorough scientific background, with a BS in Biology (an emphasis in Marine Biology) and a minor in Molecular Genetics. I have been hiking and camping since Boy Scouts, and love being outdoors. Music has also been a very important part of my life. I studied classical sax for a few years before switching to jazz and blues, which I have continued to keep up with for about 15 years now.
This is my fourth year with photography, and I have no intentions of slowing down.
I consider photography as my ode to life and understanding; a counter balance to life's everyday squalors. I just try and 'serve' the subject by capturing its likeness and sharing in its beauty and wonder -be it living or static, happy or sad.
Although I believe in discovery through natural expirementation I will crop and adjust contrast if need be in the digital darkroom. With thanks to my dear friend, Alan, some of my images have been radically altered by Photoshop. See my "ghost" koi pictures.
As I find nature and people to be the most interesting subjects I do prefer to be outdoors and away from the computer lab. You'll typically find me hiking, biking, or kayaking with my gear strapped to my back.
I specialize in capturing people in natural environments and ambient lighting, as well as making panoramas using digital stiching programs.
I aim for aesthetics first. If originality is met along the way then its probably just a coincidence.
I'm always looking for something new..or at least a new way to see it.
Thank you for visiting.
Please feel free to comment...as all criticisms are welcome and my humble spirit beckons.
